The Health and Nutrition arm of the AUT Food Network area of expertise lies in how food and diet affects health and how these can be improved to maximise health and wellbeing as well as prevent and treat non-communicable diseases. This knowledge and expertise has been developed with over 30 years of research experience which has included both a wide range of participants (age, ethnicity, health conditions), and circumstances. 

Recent research: 

The Health and Nutrition team have access to state of the art equipment including measurement of how food is digested, absorbed and used by the body.

This group is led by Professor Elaine Rush who is an associate investigator at the prestigious food research centre of the research excellence, the Riddet Institute and a principal investigator with Gravida-national centre for growth and development.
