AUT Food Network's Retailing team primary interest is in finding out what's going on in the mind of the consumer. This includes looking at all aspects of the external environment that can stimulate and impact consumers' choices, decisions and behaviour. Aside from retailing-related research, this Retailing team is academics in NZ who have the depth of expertise in retail marketing and shopper behaviour which is backed by expansive commercial experience.
Recent projects have included mapping the response of consumers to various stimuli. Retail has access to some unique equipment used to test consumer responses, including eye tracking and measurement of the response of the brain to stimuli.
